COVID-19 vaccination drive: Over 20 lakh healthcare workers receive jabs since Jan 16

New Delhi: A total of 4,08,305 more people were vaccinated in 7,764 sessions in the last hours across the country, taking the total number of such beneficiaries to 20,23,809 in 36,378 sessions, Union Health Ministry informed on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, India recorded 9,102 new cases, the lowest in the eight months, pushing the country’s COVID-19 tally to 1,06,76,838.
Besides, the country also recorded 117 fatalities in the last 24 hours, lowest in 8 months and 9 days, taking the total number of deaths to 1,53,587.
A total of 15,901 patients recovered during the past 24 hours, raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 1,03,45,985.
The country has conducted a total of 19,30,62,694 tests so far. Of these, 7,25,577 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
Active cases now 1.66 per cent of cumulative positive cases, the Ministry added. In number, India has 1,77,266 active cases.
India’s cases per million population is also amongst the lowest in the world (7,736).
