Covid 4th wave scare: India registers over 8000 cases for 2nd straight day

New Delhi: India recorded 8,582 new cases of Covid-19 during the past 24 hours, taking the cumulative tally of cases to 4,32,13,435 in the country, said latest data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Sunday.
As many as four fresh fatalities were also recorded in the last 24 hours, taking the Corona related death count in the country to 524,761.
The active cases stand at 44,513 which now comprises 0.10 percent of the total infections, while the national Covid-19 recovery rate currently stands at 98.68 percent.
Meanwhile, 4,435 recoveries were reported in the last 24 hours, increasing the total recoveries to 4,26,52,743.
On the vaccination front, the government has been continuously speeding up the vaccination drive across the country.
According to the bulletin issued by the Ministry on Sunday 85.48 Crore tests for Covid-19 have been done so far.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 3,16179 tests were conducted.
“India has administered 195.07 Cr doses of Covid-19 vaccine so far under the ongoing nationwide vaccination drive,” Ministry data said.
More than 193.53 Crore more vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far.
Over 13.91 crore balance and unutilized Covid vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs which are to be administered, the ministry said. (UNI)
