Daily spike of nCOV reduced to 1.27 lakhs, Fatalities below 3K

New Delhi: India recorded 1,27,510 lakh fresh Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, the lowest in 54 days, pushing the country's total infections to 2,81,75,044, Union Health Ministry said on Tuesday.Besides, the country also saw 2,795 deaths due to COVID-19, taking the total number of deaths to 3,31,895.
Daily recoveries continue to outnumber the daily new cases for 19 consecutive days, as 2,55,287 patients recuperated during the past 24 hours, pushing the number of recoveries to 2,59,47,629. With these new recoveries, recovery rate jumped to 92.09 per cent.
Now, active caseload further declines to 18,95,520, below 20 lakh after 43 days, according to the Ministry data.Meanwhile, weekly positivity rate currently pegged at 8.64 per cent.
Daily positivity rate dipped to 6.62 per cent, less than 10 per cent for eight consecutive days, the Ministry added.
According to India Council of Medical Research, 346792257 tests have been conducted so far, of which, 19,25,374 were carried out in the past 24 hours.
Tamil Nadu registered the highest 27,936 cases, followed by Karnataka with 16,604 cases, Maharashtra with 15,077 cases, Kerala with 12,300 cases and West Bengal with 10,137 cases.
On the vaccination front, a total of 21,60,46,638 doses have been administered since January 16 this year, of which 27,80,058 were administered in the past 24 hours.On Monday, India had recorded over 1.52 lakh new Covid-19 cases and 3,128 deaths.

More than 1.57 cr Covid vaccine doses still available with states: Health Ministry
A total of 1,57,74,331 Covid vaccine doses are still available with states and Union Territories to be administered, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Tuesday.
The Centre has so far provided, both through the free of cost category and through direct state procurement category, 23,18,36,510 vaccine doses to the states, it added.
Of this, the total consumption, including wastages is 21,51,48,659 doses, as per data available this morning.
'' As part of the nationwide vaccination drive, Government of India has been supporting the States and UTs by providing them COVID Vaccines free of cost. In addition, the Govt. of India has also been facilitating direct procurement of vaccines by the states and UTs. Vaccination is an integral pillar of the comprehensive strategy of Government of India for containment and management of the pandemic, along with Test, Track, Treat and COVID Appropriate Behaviour,'' the Ministry said.(UNI)
