India logs 2,430 new Covid cases with single digit fatalities

New Delhi:India recorded 2,430 new Covid-19 cases taking the total active cases to 26,618 as per the Health Ministry data on Saturday.
This slight drop comes a day after the country reported 2,678 cases Friday.As many as eight fresh fatalities were also recorded, taking the overall toll in the country to 5,28,874.
A total of 2,378 new recoveries were reported as total people who recuperated from the disease surged to 4,40,70,935.The fatality rate was recorded at 1.19 per cent.
The active cases comprise 0.06 per cent of the total infections, whereas the national Covid-19 recovery rate stands at 98.76 per cent.
On the vaccination front, the government has been continuously speeding up the vaccination drive across the country. According to the bulletin issued by the Ministry on Saturday 89.83 crore tests for Covid-19 have been done so far.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 2,41,707 tests have been conducted. “India has administered 219.27 cr doses (94.95 cr Second Dose and 21.81 cr Precaution Dose) of Covid-19 vaccine, so far under the ongoing nationwide vaccination drive,” Ministry data said.(UNI)
