2.59 lakh nCoV cases, 4.2k deaths registered in past 24 hours

New Delhi: India reported 2,59,591 new cases of the Novel Coronavirus in the past 24 hours, taking the infection tally to 2,60,31,991, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Friday.
Besides, the country also saw 4,209 more fatalities due to the virus, pushing the toll to 2,91,331. On Thursday, the country recorded 3,874 deaths.
 
On a positive front, 3,57,295 patients recovered from the virus, taking the total number of recoveries to 2,27,12,735.
 
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 32,44,17,870 samples have been tested so far for coronavirus, of which record 20,61,683 tests were conducted in the past one day.
 
Currently, the country houses 30,27,925 active cases.On Thursday, India had registered 2,76,110 new Covid-19 cases.
Daily recoveries exceed fresh Covid cases for eighth day in India: Health Ministry
 
With 3,57,295 recoveries recorded in the last 24 hours, India’s daily recoveries outnumbered the new Covid cases for the eighth consecutive day, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Friday.
 
'The country's cumulative recoveries have reached 2,27,12,735 today. The National Recovery Rate has grown further to touch 87.25 per cent. Ten states account for 74.55 per cent of the new recoveries,' a Ministry release said.
 
Meanwhile, in another positive development, India has recorded less than 3 lakh new cases for five consecutive days now. A total of 2,59,551 daily new cases were registered in the last 24 hours.
 
As per the statement, ten states reported 76.66 per cent of the new cases in the same period. Tamil Nadu has reported the highest daily new cases at 35,579, followed by Kerala with 30,491 new cases.
 
On the other hand, India’s total Active Caseload has decreased to 30,27,925 today. A net decline of 1,01,953 is witnessed in the last 24 hours. It now comprises 11.63 per cent of the country's total positive cases. Eight states cumulatively account for 69.47 per cent of India’s total active cases, the statement read.(UNI)
