India logs 3,157 new COVID cases; positivity rate past 1% again after two months

New Delhi: India on Monday registered 3,157 new Covid-19 cases, as per a Health Ministry data, taking the overall tally to 4,30,82,345 cases since January 2020.
There were 26 deaths recorded in one day, taking the toll to 5,23,869 so far. Last year same day there were 3,68,060 cases reported amid the second surge in the pandemic.
The active caseload stood at 19,500, which is 0.05 per cent of total infection.
While the national positivity rate went past one per cent (1.07) after more than two months.
The recovery rate has decreased to 98.74 per cent, with 2,723 people recovering from the coronavirus, taking total recoveries to 4,25,38,976.
As per the bulletin on Monday, 83.82 crore tests for Covid-19 have been done so far, of which 2,95,588 were conducted in past 24 hours.
