India logs 6,396 new Covid cases in past 24 hours, 201 succumbs

New Delhi: India registered 6,396 Covid-19 cases taking the tally to 4,29,45,160, even as the daily positivity rate stood at 0.69 per cent in the country, as per the Health Ministry data on Friday. As many as 201 fresh fatalities were also reported in the same period, taking the overall national Covid toll to 5,14,589 The active cases stand at 69,897 which now comprise 0.16 per cent of the total infections, while the national recovery rate has decreased to 98.64 per cent. Since last report, 13,450 recoveries have taken place, increasing the total recoveries 4,23,67,070.

According to the latest bulletin issued by the Ministry on Friday, 77.09 crore Covid tests have taken place in the country so far. A total of 9,23,351 new tests were conducted in past one day. “India has administered 178.29 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccines so far under the ongoing nationwide vaccination drive,” Ministry data said. More than 179.14 crore vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far. Over 15.49 crore balance and unutilized Covid vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered, the ministry said. (UNI)
