India reports nearly 40K new nCOV cases, 154 die in past 24 hours

New Delhi: India on Friday recorded a whopping 39,726 new cases of COVID-19 during the past 24 hours, pushing the country caseload to 1,15,14,331, while the death toll soared to 1,59,370 with 154 more fatalities.
According to the Union Health Ministry, the active cases rose by 18,918 to stand at 2,71,282. It is now 2.20 per cent of the total caseload.
 
The past 24 hours saw 20,654 people recovering from the deadly virus, taking the total recovery count to 1.10,83,679, which is 96.41 per cent of the case tally. The fatality rate stood at 1.39 per cent.
 
Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that a total of 23,13,70,546 lakh samples have been tested so far for coronavirus. Out of this, 10,57,383 were tested in the past one day.
 
On the vaccination front, a total of 3,89,20,259 vaccine doses have been administered till 1900 hrs Thursday.
 
Marathwada region reports 3573 fresh nCoV cases, 26 deaths
Aurangabad:Eight districts of Marathwada region of Maharashtra state spike out 3,573 fresh cases during the past 24 hours, and 26 more deaths, health authorities informed, here on Friday.
 
Details from all the district headquarters collected by UNI shows that out of the eight districts of the region, Aurangabad district in the region was the worst affected district where highest 1557 cases and 15 deaths were reported , followed by Jalna with 419 new cases and 4 deaths, Nanded registered 625 new cases and three deaths,Hibgoli had 87 cases and two deaths ,Latur registered 291 new cases and single death, Beed registered 264 new cases and single death, Parbhani had 166 cases and Osmanabad had 164 cases .
 
COVID-19 spreading fast in HP’s Hamirpur
Hamirpur:COVID-19 is spreading fast in the district of Hamirpur that is located in the middle of the state.
 
Gone are the days when people and the administration used to raise hue and cry when one single case was reported.Now no day passes without the detection of more than five cases in the district and this has upset all.
 
With thirteen more positive cases reported till Thursday night, the total number of active cases in the district has risen to 64. However, nine older cases were cured today, as per the CMO, Hamirpur, Dr Archana Soni.
 
She said that the total number of positive cases had risen to 3,148 and forty-nine having died due to the dreaded virus. The number of cured cases now stood at 3,034.(UNI)
