Bengaluru: Even before the people are to overcome from the shock of about the death of 24 people at Chamarajanagar yesterday, in yet another incident 4 Covid-19 patients have died want of oxygen at Afzalpur Taluk Hospital in Kalaburgi district of Karnataka on Tuesday morning.
All the deaths have taken place in Private hospitals where the patients were admitted as there were allegedly lack of beds in government hospitals.
According to official sources, the deaths were reported in the wee hours of 0430 hrs as the hospital ran out of stock. There were, in all, still 32 patients struggling for life due to want of oxygen.
Congress MLA Priyank Kharge, son of Opposition leader in Rajya Sabha M Mallikarjun Kharge, sharply reacted saying that “it is nothing but cold blooded murder by the State administration. The Deputy Commissioner has not convened even a single meeting to discuss and take precautionary measures. They are not interested and not taking warning and advice seriously.”
Mr Priyank Kharge alleged that the oxygen cylinders meant for the District were allegedly sent to neighbouring Maharashtra Hospitals for the reasons best known to the administration since the district hospitals were facing severe shortage of oxygen and supply was sent. (UNI)
