Muzaffarnagar: Lakhs of farmers from Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan and other states joined the Mahapanchayat of United Kisan Morcha at the grounds of Government Inter College here on Sunday.

All roads leading to the venue have been blocked with vehicles and farmers coming on tractor trolleys.

In the Mahapanchayat, the farmer leaders of United Kisan Morcha announced a call for Bharat Bandh on September 27.

Earlier the date of the Bharat Bandh was slated on September 25, but now it has been changed to September 27.

Farmer leader Yogendra Yadav, Rakesh Tikait, Naresh Tikait and others attacked the Narendra Modi and Yogi Adityanath governments over anti-farm laws and depriving the farmers of their dues.

They demanded immediate withdrawal of three farm laws implemented by the Centre and more facilities to the farmers by UP government.

During the mahapanchayat, slogans were raised against the central government and the UP government from the stage. At the same time, a female reporter of a news channel faced misbehaviour by the farmers attending the mahapanchayat.

Organisers have arranged 500 langars and 1000 medical units for the farmers. Farmer organisations have also prepared 5000 volunteers for system and security. A water proof platform has also been built with a pandal of about two lakh square feet.

Additional security arrangements have been made and additional IPS officers have also been sent to Muzaffarnagar from Meerut, Baghpat, Shamli, Bijnor and Ghaziabad. About 20 company PACs have also been deployed. Along with taking full vigil in all these districts, instructions have also been given to impose additional forces at all major places. (UNI)
