US President Donald Trump is in "excellent cognitive and physical health" and is "fully fit to execute the duties of the Commander-in-Chief and Head of State," White House physicians confirmed on Sunday after the 78-year-old underwent a routine medical.
According to the report by former US Navy Captain Sean Barbabella, Trump has a history of high cholesterol but that this is "well controlled," with the President taking two different medications to address it: rosuvastatin and ezetimibe, more commonly known under the brand names Crestor and Zetia.
He reportedly also uses a mometasone cream to control rosacea, a condition that can cause facial redness.
Since his last physical as president in 2020, Trump has reportedly lost 20 pounds (9 kilograms) in weight and currently weighs around 224 pounds (101.6kg).
Is Trump healthy?
Captain Barbabella's report ascribed Trump's good health to his "active lifestyle," referring to numerous daily meetings, press events and "frequent victories in golf events."
The report noted scarring on Trump's right ear caused by a gunshot wound suffered during an assassination attempt at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania last year, but said his hearing was normal.
"I think I did well," Trump had told reporters on board Air Force One on Friday after the checks, saying he had undergone "every test you can imagine, I was there for a long time, the yearly physical."
Trump has never smoked cigarettes and does not drink alcohol, but fast-food burgers and well-cooked steaks reportedly feature regularly on his mean plans.
How is Trump's mental health?
At 78, Trump is the oldest ever US President to assume office – five months older than his former Democratic rival Joe Biden was when he became president in 2020.
Nevertheless, Trump has always tried to portray himself as significantly younger and fitter than his predecessor, whose increasingly notable cognitive issues eventually forced him out of the 2024 presidential election campaign.
According to the report, Trump scored 30/30 on a cognitive test known as the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, during which patients perform tasks designed to measure concentration, memory and abstract thinking.
Trump told reporters he took a cognitive test because he wanted to "be a little different" than Biden, who is now 82.
Has Trump had vaccines?
Captain Barbabella's report said that President Trump has received all recommended vaccines, including for COVID-19, which he contracted in October 2020, leading to a spell in hospital.
In the past, Trump has often spread debunked claims about links between vaccines and autism. His Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has also cast doubt on the safety and efficacy of vaccines, contrary to established science.
