Over 14.76 cr devotees take holy dip at Maha Kumbh so far

Prayagraj: The Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj continues to witness a wave of devotion and faith, as millions of saints, devotees, and Kalpvasis take holy dips in the sacred Triveni Sangam, where the three rivers, Ganga, Yamuna and the invisible Saraswati, converge.

This grand spectacle is creating new records every day, with more than three crore people taking part in the holy dip on Sunday and Monday alone, ahead of the Amrit Snan during Mauni Amavasya.

On Sunday, 1.74 crore devotees took a dip in tha Sangam, while 1.55 crore devotees followed suit on Monday, taking the total number of bathers at Mahakumbh to a remarkable 14.76 crore.

It may be noted that the number of devotees surpassed the 10-crore mark as early as last Thursday.

The Yogi government estimates that on Mauni Amavasya, 10 crore devotees will participate and by the end of the Maha Kumbh, more than 45 crore people are expected to have bathed in the sacred confluence.

The atmosphere in Prayagraj is charged with enthusiasm as devotees continue to flock from all over the country and the world, arriving in large numbers every day to attain spiritual merit through the holy dip.

The Maha Kumbh is a melting pot of diverse cultures, with devotees from different states and countries uniting in devotion at the banks of the Sangam. The event has transcended caste and creed, with people from all walks of life coming together, exemplifying the spirit of unity and the true essence of the Maha Kumbh.

Ahead of the highly anticipated Amrit Snan on Mauni Amavasya, the Maha Kaumbh has already seen a huge influx of devotees.

On Sunday, 1.74 crore people participated in the holy dip, and by Monday, this number exceeded 1.5 crore. The significant influx of devotees includes 10 lakh Kalpvasis, along with devotees and saints from all over the country and abroad. With this, the total number of bathers in the Maha Kumbh has reached 14.76 crore.

Despite the massive gathering of crores of devotees at tha Sangam, Prayagraj's urban life has remained unaffected. The city continues to function smoothly, with schools, offices and businesses operating as usual.

The district administration has imposed certain restrictions only on the major bathing festivals, but on regular days, life goes on at its normal pace, bringing relief and happiness to the city dwellers.

On Monday, several prominent figures took part in the holy dip at the Sangam. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, along with his entire family, took the dip, as did the entire state cabinet, including Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Governor Anandiben Patel, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal, Union Ministers Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Arjun Ram Meghwal, BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi, Rajya Sabha MP Sudha Murthy, Assam Assembly Speaker Biswajit Daimary, SP MP Akhilesh Yadav, Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly Mata Prasad Pandey, Gorakhpur MP Ravi Kishan, Bollywood actress Bhagyashree, Anupam Kher, actress-turned-Mahamandaleshwar of Kinnar Akhara Mamta Kulkarni, poet Kumar Vishwas, cricketer Suresh Raina and choreographer Remo D'Souza also took the holy dip in Sangam.
