Jagannath temple servitors apprise Gajapati King on recovery of lords from sickness

Puri: A team of senior daita servitors on Saturday went to the royal palace in a ceremonial procession called Rajprasad Bije” and apprised the Gajapati king, considered as the foremost servitors of the lord Jagannath on Lords recovering from fever lying in the Anasar (sick room) in the Sri Jagannath temple.

The servitors informed Gajapati king that the deities would be ready for Nabajouban darshan scheduled for June 29,two days prior to the famous car festival.

On June 30 the Ubha Yatra will be observed and the Ratha Yatra, the nine days sojourn to the Gundicha temple of the three presiding deities, will begin on July 1.

After the grand bath on the Snan Purnima (holy bath) the deities were escorted to Anasarghar (sick room) supposedly suffering from fever.

During their fortnight stay in the Anasarghar, the temple Vaidya (physician) administers herbal medicines and keeps them on fruit diet while Faita servitors carry out a number of secret services in the Anasarghar.

After recovery from fever the servitors perform Banaklagi seva to give a youthful look to the deities.

On the Nabajouban Darshan day which is also called “Netra Utshab” the devotees will be allowed to have darshan of the deities.

The Gajapati advised the Daitapatis to ensure smooth conduct of the fete.

The Gajapati Dibyasingh Deb on Saturday advised all concerned servitors for timely completion of nitees and rituals of the deities.

The administration should ensure that there should be no obstruction in front of the deities while on the chariots and devotees having darshan.

Meanwhile, the SriJagannath temple administration has shifted 5 quintals of silver from the temple office's strong room to the district treasury amid tight security on Saturday.

This huge silver will be used for plating the Kalahat door, the main door to the temple Garbhagruha in the absence of deities during Rath Yatra.

Silver plating of seven doors have already been completed. (UNI)
