Jammu: Around 50 metres long ‘Nandi Parvat Mahadev’ Cave is found near Shiv Khori (Cave of Lord Shiva) in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Reasi District is already famous for the World renowned Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Cave Shrine situated in Trikuta Hills and Shiv Khori Cave.

The newly found cave, as per the locals, has a seat of Lord Shiva and is some 72 kilometres from Katra town—the base camp of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Bhawan.

The locals telephonically here told UNI that by the side of Lord Shiva, are also seen seated Mata Parvati and Lord Ganesha and the ‘lingam’ resembles a lot with natural ice ‘shivlingam’ in Amarnath Cave in South Kashmir.

The cave was found in January by a local following which, people from surrounding belts, started visiting the spot to pay obeisance at the natural cave and presently, around 200 to 250 people are daily visiting the place.

“The devotees of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi reaching Katra, are also visiting the cave to have ‘darshan’ of Lord Shiva,” said a local.

He said that the cave is found in the woods of village Kantha Bamleya, about five kilometers short of Ransoo.

The area falls in the jurisdiction of twin Rajouri and Reasi districts after which it has been named as ‘Nandi Parvat Mahadev Aasan Cave’. The mountain on which the cave is found is locally called ‘Nandi Parbat’.On January 29, Swarn Singh, a resident and former sarpanch of village Khudi, discovered this cave.

“He (Swarn Singh) lost his goats and on the same night, he had a dream that he will find them near the cave and surprisingly, next day when he was searching for them, found them outside the cave,” said a local asserting that without wasting a day, the Sarpanch took assistance of three more persons and discovered the cave.

Reminding the fateful day, the Sarpanch expressed that he found the seat of Lord Shiva with ‘Trishul’ (Trident), Mata Parvati, Lord Ganesha, Shankha (Conch) and Sheshnag.

The founders narrated that they feel blessed that they found the cave and their names will be scripted in Golden Words in the history whenever the story of this cave will be penned down.

Ravi Singh, Jamit Singh are among those who assisted the Sarpanch in finding the cave.“The entrance of the cave is larger but it narrows after a distance. The view inside is amazing,” they added.

Deputy commissioner Reasi Indu Kanwal Chib when contacted here told UNI, "we have dispatched our revenue teams to the spot to ascertain facts."(UNI)
