Dhaka: A Bangladesh policeman Nazmul Tareq, accused of harassing a woman professor for wearing a Bindi, has been suspended.
In her complaint, Lota Sumaddaer, a theatre and media studies lecturer at Tejgaon College, told the police that she had been feeling unsafe since the "man in the uniform" had tried to run her over with his bike when she protested his verbal abuses.
She then saved herself by quickly moving aside, but sustained some injuries as she fell on the street.
DMP Media Center Deputy Commissioner Farooq Hossain on Monday confirmed the temporary dismissal of Constable Nazmul.
He said a two-member committee has been formed to investigate the incident. (Inputs from UNI)
