New Delhi: OpenAI introduced a new affordable plan named ‘ChatGPT Go’ as an alternative to its ‘Plus’ or ‘Pro’ subscription plans in India.

Under the ‘ChatGPT Go’ plan, users need to pay a monthly charge of Rs 399, which is significantly cheaper than the plus and pro plans costing Rs 1,999 and Rs 19,900 respectively on a monthly basis.

Now, with the arrival of the ‘ChatGPT Go’ plan, users can now pay with Unified Payment Interface (UPI) which is India’s prominent payment framework.

Nick Turley, VP at OpenAI and Head of ChatGPT said on X “ We just launched ChatGPT Go in India, a new subscription tier that gives users in India more access to our popular features including 10 times higher message limits, 10 times more image generations, 10 times more file uploads and 2 times longer memory compared with our free tier. All for Rs 399.”

The company is currently geo-restricting this plan in India as per the information given on the support page.

Users are also excited with this launch as ‘ChatGPT Go’ giving them access to popular AI features, including GPT-5 messaging, multimodal image generation or file uploads at just Rs 399 monthly.

The move behind this launch also points towards the strategy of OpenAI to increase the popularity of ChatGPT in India. This will give tough competition to Google Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Claude, and others in dominating the search market.

‘ChatGPT Go’ doesn’t include the ultra-modern functions that are exclusive to higher-tier plans. These features are connectors to third-party integrations, Sora video creation tools, and API usage (which is billed separately).
