The Donald Trump and Elon Musk bromance seems to have all but ended now with the world’s richest man alleging that the US President’s name figures in the classified Epstein files.Musk’s nuclear escalation of his feud with Donald Trump came after duo traded blows for days over the US head of state's flagship domestic policy proposal, the “One Big Beautiful Bill” (OBBB), which the world's richest man had earlier branded a “disgusting abomination.”

On Thursday, the SpaceX CEO dropped a dirty bomb on the US President and wrote on X: “Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public.Have a nice day, DJT!”The Epstein files refers to the vast array of classified files and documents, related to the convicted billionaire sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, with whom Trump was friends with decades ago.

While Epstein was sentenced to 18 months in prison, the US courts had ruled that Trump was not in on his former friend’s criminal life. The feud between the two global titans had been turning increasingly sour, owing to Musk’s own disdain for the bill, which Trump fully justified as being a very big necessity for the US.

The US President had earlier expressed his disappointment over Musk’s remarks, saying it may just be the end of their “great relationship.”Attacking his former ‘First Buddy’, Trump earlier wrote on social media “Elon knew the inner workings of this bill better than anyone… and he only developed a problem when he found out I would cut the EV (electric vehicle) mandate… And it really is unfair.”

Musk rebuked the allegations, saying he had no clue as to what was going on, and it was passed without his knowledge.Trump offered a relatively muted response, saying “I don’t mind Elon turning against me, but he should have done so months ago.”

Following the drama, Musk- once the brand ambassador for Trump administration - began calling for his impeachment, and threatened to decommission the SpaceX Dragon spacecraft that returned NASA astronauts from the International Space Station, after Trump claimed he would terminate subsidies on the private space agency. However, he later backtracked on the decision after an X user encouraged the parties to “Cool off and take a step back for a couple days.” Trump said he won’t be doing so.
