Washington: A hospital in the US state of Massachusetts may have exposed nearly 450 people to diseases including HIV and hepatitis over the course of two years, ABC News reported, citing the hospital.
Hundreds of patients may have been exposed to HIV, hepatitis B and hepatitis C during endoscopy procedures, the report said on Thursday. The patients were potentially exposed during the administration of intravenous medications, the report said.
The hospital was alerted to the potential exposures earlier this year and has since corrected its practices, the report said. The hospital has been cooperating with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health on the matter, the report added.
The hospital has notified patients who were potentially exposed, according to the report. There is no evidence of any infections resulting from the incident, the report added. (UNI)
