The protest march named 'Women’s March' took place from Basantapur to Singha Durbar demanding an end to violence against women and asking for perpetrators to be punished.
The rally was organised as part of the ongoing Brihat Nagarik Aandolan, which is an alliance of civil society groups and activists working for a more just and equitable Nepal.
As part of spreading awareness regarding women's issues several civil society activists and artists would address the gathering, poem recitation will take place and a play would also be performed at Bhadrakali.
The Brihat Nagarik Aandolan was constituted amidst growing protests against the murder of a 17-year-old girl whose body was found in a forest in Baitadi district on February 4.Subsequent police investigations later on confirmed that the post mortem report suggested the girl was raped and murdered.
The Baitadi district police, Sudurpaschim provincial police along with the Central Bureau of Investigation have been investigating the case, no arrest have taken place yet.(UNI)
