TRAGIC: 10 kanwariyas dead, 16 injured after pick-up van gets electrocuted in West Bengal's Coochbehar

Kolkata: At least ten people died and 16 were injured due to electrocution at Changrabandha in West Bengal's Coochbehar district on Monday.

The incident happened due to short circuit of a sound box in a pick-up van carrying pilgrims, who were going to pay oblation to Lord Shiva at Jalpesh temple.

All hailed from Sitalkuchi of the district.

Police said it was raining heavily when the accident occurred.

The injured were shifted to Jalpaiguri Super Speciality hospital.

District Zilla Parishad chief Girindra Nath Burman said lack of awareness caused the accident. (UNI)
