11 accused in Palghar lynching case test corona positive

Palghar: A total of 11 accused, allegedly involved in the infamous Palghar lynching case,have tested positive in a medical check-up, it was learned here.
The swab test of total 17 alleged accused, arrested in the case, was done, of whom, 11 tested positive in the reports received on Tuesday while the reports of others are yet to come, it was stated.
It may be recalled that three men, including two seers and their driver, were lynched by an irate armed mob on April 16, while on their way to Surat to attend a funeral of another seer.
After testing positive, the accused have been admitted to the local hospitals for treatment.The health officials are now working on the close contacts and high-risk persons associated with the accused, who were lodged at the Wada police lock-up.
The officer said that so far, 156 persons, including ten juveniles, have been arrested in this case and all of them ad that the swab test of a total of 17 of the alleged accused arrested in the case in which two Sadhus were lynched by an irate armed mob on April 16, was done of which 11 of them case positive in the reports received today. The reports of the others are yet to come it was stated.
The sadhus from Mumbai along with their driver were on their way to Surat to attend a funeral on an ill-fated night when they were stopped at Gadchinchale village under the limits of the Kasa police station and attacked and killed by the mob of villagers.
The officer also said that after a couple of accused, arrested in this and other cases tested positive,they have been instructed not to go in close proximity of the arrested accused and take utmost care while handling them. The accused are currenly lodged at alock up, as the work of the Palghar jail was underway, it was learnt
Two arrested for murder of villager in Palghar
Palghar:The Rural Police have arrested two villagers on the charge of allegedly strangulating to death another villager at Gangangaon village of the district.
The Talasari police station has registered a case under section 302 read with 34 of Indian Penal Code against the three alleged accused based on a complaint filed by the victim's brother, police said..
On the intervening night of June 14-15, the trio strangled to death the victim, Jaideep Thackeray (18), and dumped his body at the entrance of his brother's house in the same village.
According to the police, they have arrested two accused so far and the third one -- a juvenile -- has yet to be detained. The accused -- Sunil Thackeray (38) and Ankush Dalv (22) -- were arrested on Tuesday.
Initial reports stated that the victim and Sunil, who were cousins, had a long-standing dispute over land property and this could be the reason for the killing, suspect the police. The arrested were produced before a local magistrate, who remanded them into police custody for four days, sources added. (UNI)
