5 accused including a juvenile arrested in Mysuru Gangrape case

Five accused in Mysuru gangrape case have been arrested, according to the Karnataka DGP Praveen Sood.

All of them are residents of Tirupur in Tamil Nadu, he said addressing the media in Mysuru. One of the accussed is a juvenile and his age will be known after the interrogation he said. The arrested were labourers who used to come to Mysuru from Tirupur to attend to theri work as carpenters Plumbers and Plumbers sood said.

On August 24 between 7pm to 8 pm the incident took place he said.The rape victim has not registerd any complaint so far and police is acting upon the complaint filed by the victim's male friend. The rape victim is currently receiving treatment at Hospital.

Based on scientific and technical data, the police closed on the accused and arrested them, he said.One of the vital data was elicited from the mobile phone from which the accused had contacted male victim's father demanding Rs 3 lakh ransom.

Once the rape accused comes out of the state of shock, the police expects to pursue further investigation into the matter, Sood said.As many as seven teams were formed to nab the accused, he saidOne of the accused is absconding, he added.

The police will seek custody of the accused before the magistrate, Sood said.
A couple of the accused has a criminal history, he said.

Sood also announced Rs five lakh reward for nabbing the accused.On August 24, a student traveled with her male accomplice when a gang of six waylaid the victims who were on their bikes at Lalitadripura near Chamundi Hills.

This incident had caused a huge uproar in not only Mysuru but the country.It also created political rumblings with the Congress party in Karnataka alleging total failure of law and order. It also charged the police and state government for attempting to "close" the case by not registering 376 sections under the IPC.

The rape victim is currently receiving treatment at the hospital.The male victim, in an FIR, had lodged complained that he was waylaid and brutally assaulted.He saw the gang dragging the rape victim into the bush. At the same time, one of the accused hit him on his forehead with a stone and he fell unconscious.

The accused then called the male victim's father asking for Rs 3 lakh ransom.After coming back to the senses, the male victim asked about his female accomplice, then the accused pulled her out of the bush and sat down next to him.

Gang-rape case: Defying medical advice, victim girl discharged from hospital, airlifted to Mumbai

The 22-year-old girl student, who was allegedly gang-raped near the foothills of Chamundi off Lalithadripura main road, was discharged from the hospital on Friday late evening.
Sources said on Saturday that the parents of the girl, hailing from Mumbai in Maharashtra, got her discharged from a private hospital in the city against medical advice.

They took her to Bengaluru by road and later, airlifted in a chopper to Mumbai.The youth is still being treated at the hospital for the injuries suffered in assault by the rape accused.

The girl belongs to a reputed family in Mumbai and her parents wanted their daughter to be discharged to avoid the unnecessary mental trauma with political parties making most of it to play the blame game.

On the other hand, police are probing the case on the basis of her boyfriend's complaint. Though in such cases, the victim's version aassumes significance, the parents are still unwilling to lodge a formal complaint.

Police have intensified the investigation and have dispatched teams to Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
