6 arrested in Jharkhand for setting a woman on fire

Simdega: Six people have been arrested from Kudpani Dipatoli under Thethaitangar Police Station area of Simdega district of Jharkhand for setting a woman on fire whom they
suspected of practising witchcraft.
Police on Thursday said that the victim Jharia Devi (55) had come to the house of one Florence in the village to participate in a ritual post the death of his family member where a woman accused her of practising witchcraft and as things got blown out some of the people beat her up.
The people soon set a dry paddy heap on fire and threw the woman inside but someone alerted the police which reached the village and rescued the woman. She was taken to the hospital from where the doctors referred her to RIMS Ranchi as she had serious burn injuries in face and other parts of the body.
Among the arrested included Florence Dungdung, Silbirus Dungdung, Ravi Soreng, Amrut Tete, Jyoti Tete and Hemant Tete.(UNI)
