New Delhi: Taking strong exception to members displaying placards and disobeying the Chair, Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday suspended six All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) Members for the remaining part of the day's proceedings.

The TMC Members who faced the action are-- Dola Sen, Nadimul Haque, Abir Ranjan Biswas, Shanta Chhetri, Arpita Ghosh and Mausam Noor.

"Accordingly, these members shall absent themselves during the remainder of the day's meeting," a Rajya Sabha bulletin said.

As per the Bulletin, the suspended MPs entered the Well of the House, displayed placards, disobeyed the Chair and their conduct was grossly disorderly in the House this morning.

They were directed to withdraw immediately from the Council under rule 255 by the Chairman.

Soon after the House assembled for the day and various reports were tabled, many Opposition members came to the Well shouting slogans and demanding discussion on the Pegasus issue.

The Chairman repeatedly appealed to the protesting members but the advice fell on the deaf ears.

As they refused to return to their seats and kept shouting slogans, the Chairman first served the warning and then ordered suspension saying “Whoever is in the Well and disobeying the Chair and raising these placards they are all asked to leave the House under Rule 255. You know, if you disobey this, what will happen, I don’t need to tell." (UNI)
