8 New Governors appointed ahead of cabinet reshuffle

New Delhi:Ahead of the possible Cabinet expansion and reshuffle, President Ram Nath Kovind on Tuesday appointed Union Minister Thawarchand Gehlot as the Governor of Karnataka.
In the latest reshuffle and expansion, the President has appointed 8 new Governors.
 
Mizoram Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai has been appointed as Governor of Goa, while Hari Babu Kambhampati will be the new Mizoram Governor, according to a Rashtrapati communique.
 
Besides, Satyadev Narayan Arya, Haryana Governor has been shifted to Tripura, while Himachal Pradesh Governor Bandaru Dattatraya will be new Governor of Haryana.
 
Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar will be appointed as Governor of Himachal Pradesh and Mangubhai Chhaganbhai Patel will be the Governor of Madhya Pradesh.
 
Ramesh Bais appointed new Governor of Jharkhand
 
Ranchi:Ramesh Bais has been appointed as the new Governor of Jharkhand.
He will be replacing Draupadi Murmu who had been appointed as the ninth Governor of the state on May 18, 2015. Ms Murmu was also the first women Governor of the state.

Prior to his appointment as Governor of Jharkhand, Ramesh Bais was working as Governor of Tripura.Ramesh Bais was born on August 2, 1947, and originally hails from Raipur of Chhattisgarh. From 1982 to 1988 he had worked as a minister in Madhya Pradesh Government.
 
As a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party, he had served as a Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Environment and Forests in Atal Bihari Vajpayee's government from 1999.
 
He was elected to the 9th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th and 16th Lok Sabha from Raipur. He had been working as Governor of Tripura since 2019.

From Former state assembly Speaker of Goa to be the Governor of HP
 
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday congratulated former State Assembly Speaker Rajendra Arlekar on his appointed as Governor of Himachal Pradesh.
 
In a tweet, the Chief Minister said,'Hearty congratulations to our senior leader, Ex Speaker of Goa Assembly & Ex Minister of Goa Govt Shri Rajendra Arlekar ji on being appointed as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh. It's a proud moment for all Goans as Arlekar ji is the first Goan to be appointed to this position.'
The President on Tuesday appointed Mr Arlekar as Governor of Himachal Pradesh.
 
Mr Arlekar was elected to fourth Legislative Assembly of Goa in 2002 and sixth Legislative Assembly in 2012. In 2012, he was elected Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly and in 2015 he was inducted into state cabinet headed by then Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar. He had held Panchayat, Forest and Environment portfolios.
 
However, he lost assembly elections in 2017.
 
Earlier, Mr Arlekar has held various positions like District President, BJP, South Goa District, Secretary, Bharatiya Janata Party, Goa, General Secretary, Bharatiya Janata Party, Goa, President, Bharatiya Janata Party, Goa, Member, BJP, National Executive Committee, and Spokesperson, Bharatiya Janata Party, Goa.

Ahead of assembly polls, Goa gets full time Governor
 
Panaji: Ahead of assembly elections scheduled to be held early next year, Goa got a full time Governor with the appointment of P S Shreedharan Pillai as Governor of the coastal state.
President Ram Nath Kovind appointed Mr Pillai, who was serving as Governor of Mizoram, as Governor of Goa on Tuesday.
 
Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari had been holding additional charge of Goa after transfer of then Governor Satya Pal Malik. Mr Malik was shifted to Meghalaya in 2020.
After transfer of Mr Malik, opposition parties had been demanding appointment of a full time governor in the state.
 
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant congratulated Mr Pillai on his appointment as Governor of Goa and said he was looking forward to welcome him in the beautiful state.''Congratulating Shri P.S. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday extended hearty felicitations to the state’s newly-appointed Governor Mangubhai Patel.
 
“The personage successfully discharged numerous responsibilities including that of central minister. He toiled for years vis-à-vis the noble objective of uplifting tribal society. I am confident that the benefits of his considerable experience in public life will ensure continued progress of Madhya Pradesh,” Mr Chouhan was officially quoted as saying.Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta Naresh Kumar Gupta called on outgoing Governor Anandiben Patel at Raj Bhavan on Tuesday, it was officially learnt.Justice Gupta presented a copy of his book ‘Judge Your Judgement’.(UNI)
