A man killed thief in self defense and his accomplice escaped

Chennai: A man from Kancheepuram near here killed a thief who had entered his house last night in self-defence while two of his accomplices managed to escape, police said on Wednesday. The incident happened late last night when three thieves entered the house of the couple, Saravanan and Yamuna at Podavur village in Sunguvarchatram, Kanchipuram by breaking open their back door. An alarmed Saravanan, took an iron rod and attacked the burglars.
 

One of the three burglars fell to the ground and died on the spot, while the other two managed to escape. After receiving news of the incident, Sunguvarchatram Police Inspector John Victor arrived at the spot with his team and has sent the body to the Sriperumbudur Government Hospital for a post-mortem.

The police have recovered a cellphone from the deceased and are conducting investigation to find out his identity. Even though the act was done in self-defence, police sources say that they are looking at the case from multiple angles and are inquiring Saravanan. (UNI)
