Srinagar: Two gun battles are underway in Baramulla and Shopian districts of Jammu and Kashmir, police said on Friday morning.
The first anti militancy operation was launched at Chitragam area of Shopian district following an input about militant presence last night.
“During the cordon and a search operation, a gun battle broke out,” a police official said, adding the operation is underway.
Hours later another CASO at Yedipora, Pattan in Baramulla turned into an encounter when the hiding militants opened fire on the joint forces.
“Security forces are on job at both places,” police said.
The encounter comes just days ahead of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to J&K that begins from October 4. During his visit, the Home Minister would be addressing a rally in north Kashmir's Baramulla town. (UNI)
