New Delhi: The government on Wednesday blocked the Telegram channel which shared derogatory photos of Hindu women and abused them online.
Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw shared the information on the twitter handle after a user tagged him.
“Channel blocked. Government of India coordinating with police authorities of states for action,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Police have detained two people in connection with an App which had targeted Muslim women -- a woman from Uttarakhand, Shweta Singh, and an engineering student from Bengaluru, Vishal Singh.
The police said Shweta is the mastermind behind the crime. She allegedly uploaded pictures of Muslim women on the App hosted on GitHub, using three different accounts.
In July 2021, a website called Sulli Deals surfaced, carrying photographs of around 90 women 'on sale'. (UNI)
