After Ishrat Jahan, advocate Nazia Elahi Khan joins BJP

Kolkata: RTI activist and advocate Nazia Elahi Khan, who argued for Ishrat Jahan in the Supreme court against instant talaq, today joined the BJP, barely six days after her client joined the saffron brigade.Nazia Elahi Khan, who once burned the effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in response to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's call Modi Hatao Desh Bachao, told reporters that she joined the BJP in a bid to focus her crusade across India.

BJP state president Dilip Ghosh in presence of Mukul Roy, handed over the party flag to Nazia Elahi Khan with slogan " Bharati Mata ki Joy."She joined along with her 150 followers, mostly Muslim women and many of them wearing. borkha from top to toe, at BJP headquarters in BurraBazar.Nazia Elahi Khan has been fighting for the cause of women, be it Muslim or Hindu or any other community and runs several NGOs for women.

Nazia Elahi Khan also lauded the Union government move against triple talaq saying this would give justice to women in Muslim community.On Saturday Israt Jahan, joined the BJP. (UNI)
