Ahmedabad: As many as 47 bodies of the ill-fated Air India plane that crashed on June 12 have been handed over to their families, Rajneesh Patel, Additional Superintendent of Ahmedabad Civil Hospital, said on Monday.
DNA samples from 92 individuals who perished in the plane crash have matched. To date, 47 bodies have been returned to their families.
Patel spoke about the identification campaign conducted by the state government following the accident, stating that the bodies with matched DNA samples are being respectfully returned to their families.
Meanwhile, DNA matching of 92 victims has been completed.
Patel said, “Eight more bodies will be handed over to families in a few hours. Currently, 13 relatives are present at the civil hospital, who will receive the bodies of their loved ones. The hospital authorities have already contacted family members of the 87 victims of the accident.'
