It's AIADMK vs DMK in Assembly polls, No role of national party

Chennai:Ruling AIADMK Deputy Coordinator and former Minister K P Munusamy once again sent out a clear message to the National parties saying they have no role to play in the State and it would be a straight fight between the two dravidian majors--AIADMK and the DMK--in the upcoming  Assembly elections.

In a veiled reference to the Congress and AIADMK'sally BJP, Mr Munuswamy, while speaking at the AIADMK'sGeneral Council meeting, said national parties does not matter in the State at all.

''It will be a direct fight between the AIADMK and the DMK...a fight between democratic politics and dynasty politics'', he said, adding, the national parties could only ride piggy-back on either of the  two dravidian parties. 

In an apparent reference to late leader J Jayalalithaa's close aide and ousted leader V K Sasikala, who was expected to be released from Bengaluru prison later this month after four years of incarceration in the disproportionate assets case, Mr Munusamy said there was no question of sleeper cells in the AIADMK.

''Whoever comes out (meaning Sasikala's release from prison) none can touch the AIADMK'', he said.''Even if she comes out, he has thousands of problems to face'', he added. 

Mr Palaniswami, in his address, had a dig at the DMK for his constant criticism of the state government and said the list of corruption allegations submitted to the Governor against the government was a bundle of lies.

He said Mr Stalin could not digest the popularity of the government, which has earned the goodwill of the people. 

In his remarks, Mr Panneerselvam said the government headed by Mr Palaniswami has got good name from the people of the State for his good governance.

Terming the DMK as more dangerous than the corona virus, he said a new political revolution will take place in the State this year (in the elections) and the DMK should be driven out of the State's political scenario. 

He also appealed to the AIADMK cadres to remain loyal to the party and create a situation wherein there was no opposition party in the state after the elections.

''We have to secure a win, which no political movement in the State has achieved so far in the elections'', he said. 

Former Minister Ms B Valarmathi likened Mr Palaniswami and Mr Panneerselvam to Ram and Lakshman, major characters in the epic, Ramayana, while terming the reported remarks of DMK youth wing leader Udhayanidhi against the Chief Minister as "intemperate." (UNI)
