Kochi: The Ernakulam Principal District and Sessions Court here on Thursday awarded Capital Punishment to Muhammed Ameer Ul-Islam, the lone accused in the sensational Jisha's rape and murder case. The court had found that Ameer ul-Islam, a native of Assam, guilty of raping and murdering the 30-year-old Dalit law student in Perumbavoor on April 28, 2016.The court on Tuesday held Ameer Ul guilty on all charges including rape and murder except for destruction of evidence and violations under the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act.
The charges proven against him under IPC Sections 302 (murder), 376 (rape), 449 (house trespass) and 342 (wrongful confinement).Rejecting the defence plea for re-investigation by a Central Agency and considering the fact that an unarmed Jisha was brutally raped and killed after causing 32 injuries on her body including her genital organ, the Court said that the convict didn’t deserve any kindness and hence the maximum punishment was being awarded.
