Another LeT aide held, remanded to police custody

New Delhi: The National Investigating Agency (NIA) has arrested Abdul Samad, a 22 years old resident of Bukkanpur, Haridwar in case registered in 2017 pertaining to activities of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).He was produced before the Special Court NIA, New Delhi on Tuesday and sent to six day police custody to NIA..? Abdul Samad is one of the leading hawala operators operating in the area of Muzaffarnagar, Deoband and Roorkee. He was acting as the conduit of the LeT financier based in the Saudi Arabia, through his cousin based there.

In the month of November 2017, Samad collected Rs three lakh and fifty thousand from hawala operators in Muzaffarnagar, UP for delivering it to the co-accused Shaikh Abdul Naeem.An active member of LeT he had visited and established bases in Bihar, Odisha, U.P and Jammu and Kashmir on the directions of his handler Abdul alias Rehan based in Pakistan.

Abdul Samad is the fifth accused person arrested in this case. The other four accused arrested in this case include Shaikh Abdul Naeem alias Sohel Khan resident of Aurangabad, Dhannu Raja, resident of Saraiya, Gopalganj,Touseef Ahmed Malik resident Pulwama, Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir and Mahfooz Alam resident of Gopalganj, Bihar.(UNI)
