Srinagar: A woman from Jammu was shot dead in yet another targeted attack by militants in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday morning, officials said.
Police said the victim, who is a teacher and resident of Samba in Jammu, was shot and critically wounded inside High School Gopalpora area of Kulgam.
"...In this terror incident, she has received critical gunshot injuries. She later succumbed to her injuries" a police spokesman said.
The slain has been identified as Rajni, a Hindu.
"Terrorists involved in this gruesome terror crime will be soon identified and neutralised," a police tweet said.
This is the second targeted attack on an employee in Kashmir this month. On May 12, a Kashmiri Pandit Rahul Bhat was shot dead inside his office at Chadoora Budgam.
PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti said despite "fake claims" by BJP about Kashmir being normal it is obvious that targeted civilian killings are on the rise.
"Despite GOIs fake claims about Kashmir being normal its obvious that targeted civilian killings are on the rise and a deep cause of concern. Condemn this act of cowardice which sadly plays into the vicious anti-muslim narrative spun by BJP," she tweeted. (UNI)
