Antique idol worth lakhs of rupees stolen from temple

Saharsa: An antique idol of Ma Chandi worth lakhs of rupees was stolen from an ancient temple at Viratpur village under Sonwarsharaj police station area in Saharsa district late last night.

Police said here today that outlaws entered the temple taking advantage of darkness and stole the antique idol of Ma Chandi worth lakhs of rupees and made good their escape. Sources said CCTV cameras fitted inside the temple had captured the movement of thieves.

Police said that the temple priest registered an FIR at the police station concerned in this connection. Further investigation is on, police added.(UNI)
