'Attack' on Nadda's convoy 'reciprocated' in Abhishek's Delhi bungalow

New Delhi:The run-up to the 'crucial' Bengal Assembly elections is becoming 'tense' by the day with violence being 'reflected' in the capital.
Hours after alleged attacks on the convoy of BJP national president J P Nadda near Kolkata on Thursday, the bungalow of Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee in 'Banga Bhaban' here was reportedly ransacked by some people raising questions about peaceful conduct of the coming Bengal polls.
The wall of the residence of Abhishek Banerjee, nephew of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, was found smeared with black ink.
Incidentally, Trinamool Congress veteran and former key minister Suvendu Adhikari quit his ministerial posts purportedly over the 'dominance' of Abhishek and poll strategists Prashant Kishore in the party.
Even as Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee termed the 'attack' on the BJP chief's convoy as "drama" and the saffron party denied vandalism in the bungalow of Trinamool's Diamond Harbour MP-the incidents are raising eyebrows of poll officials and the law and order machinery.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has telephoned BJP national general secretary and Bengal incharge Kailash Vijayvargiya to inquire about the Nadda incident.
Meanwhile, perturbed over the 'attack' on Mr Nadda's convoy, the BJP top brass expressed anguish over the incident with Union Home Minister Amit Shah saying "The Centre has taken a strong view of the incident."
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who spoke to Mr Nadda and took stock of the situation, said, "The attack reflects the deteriorating law and order situation in Bengal. Attack on political leaders is highly condemnable. The incident should be thoroughly probed and accountability should be fixed".
Mr Nadda's convoy came under 'attack' when he was on his way to Diamond Hurbour, which is represented in the Lok Sabha by Abhishek Banerjee.
After bagging Bihar with JD(U), the BJP led NDA is eyeing the Bengal Assembly elections where the "almost total collapse" of the Congress and the Left is "aiding" the BJP.The 294-seat Bengal Assembly is scheduled to go to polls in April-May, 2021.(UNI)
