Ever since Navjot Singh Sidhu has been elevated to Punjab party chief, the cracks between him and the chief minister Capt Amrinder Singh are wide open. The high octane day began at the breakfast table with Sidhu and other party MLAs.
Later the cricketer turned politician went for a visit to the golden temple where congress supporters were present in large numbers. It was touted as Sidhu's show of strength over CM Amrinder Singh. Which went well as Sidhu received a warm welcome from the supporters sealing the fact that he has an upper hand.
It was claimed that along with the supporters, as many as 60 MLAs were hand in glove with Sidhu and reached the golden temple, Amritsar on the call of party chief. The posters of Navjot Sidhu were pasted in every corner of the city.
It is to be noted that before the 2017 Punjab assembly elections Navjot Singh Sidhu left the BJP and joined the congress. The long-fought battle between Singh and Sidhu doesn't seem to be ending soon. Amrinder Singh has earlier complained about disrespectful remarks aimed at him by Sidhu but in spite of taking stock of the situation party high command promoted Sidhu to the party chief. (WD)
