Biggest jump: Over 4000 nCoV cases recorded in single day

New Delhi:India on Monday witnessed a steep spike in novel coronavirus cases as the tally jumped by 4213 freshly reported infections, taking the total number of cases to 67152.
According to the Health Ministry update this morning, 97 persons succumbed to the fatal virus in past 24 hrs. The death toll now stands 2206.
 
Despite these grim figures, the country saw an improvement on the recovery front as the number of cured cases have now crossed 20 k mark, with the figure at present standing at 20,916. Currently there are 44029 active cases in the country.
 
The Union Health Ministry issued revised guidelines with respect to the isolation norms for the self or home isolation of very mild or the pre-symptomatic cases that include availability of a care giver round the clock , requisite facilities at the residence and more. The government has also given guidelines for the care givers and the patients.
 
Maharashtra continues remain at top spot among the maximum number of coronavirus cases in the country with tally reaching at 22171 with 832 deaths so far.
 
The second worst-hit state -- Gujarat, too, continues to report high number of COVID-19 cases with current tally at 8194 and 493 deaths.
 
The national capital Delhi at third spot now houses 6923 confirmed cases of COVID with fatalities reaching 73. (UNI)
