BJP suspends Nupur Sharma for her remarks over Prophet Muhammad

New Delhi: The BJP on Sunday suspended national spokesperson Nupur Sharma over her controversial remarks on Prophet Muhammad during a TV debate.
The party has also suspended Delhi BJP's media in-charge Naveen Kumar Jindal.
Issuing a statement after the decision, the party said "The Bharatiya Janata Party respects all religions. The BJP strongly denounces insults of any religious personalities of any religion.
"The Bharatiya Janata Party is also strongly against any ideology which insults or demeans any sect or religion. The BJP does not promote such people or philosophy" the statement issued by the party National General Secretary Arun Singh said.
During the TV debate on the ongoing Gyanvapi row, Nupur Sharma made objectionable remakes against the Prophet Muhammad.
Meanwhile, cases have been registered against Nupur Sharma for hurting religious sentiments in both Pune and Mumbai. (UNI)
