Burhan Wani's death : All roads leading to Tral in Pulwama remain closed

Srinagar: All roads leading to Tral, the hometown of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) commander Burhan Wani, who was killed in an encounter by security forces on July 8, 2016 in Anantnag, remained closed for the second day on Sunday.Meanwhile, curfew also remained impose in the Tral town and adjoining areas since Friday evening to prevent any demonstration.
Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL), comprising Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Moulvi Omar Farooq and Mohammad Yaseen Malik, have called for a general strike on Sunday on the second day anniversary of Burhan. 
 
Killing of Burhan led to massive protests in the valley during which 120 people were killed in security force action. The separatists have also asked people to assemble at Tral to offer "Fateha" to HM commander today.
 
All the roads leading to Tral town remained closed since early Saturday morning by security forces, who have set up nakas. Security forces have also imposed restrictions in Awantipora on Srinagar-Jammu national highway though vehicles are being allowed to ply after their proper checking. 
 
However, no vehicle was being allowed  towards Tral from Awantipora crossing.  Naka has also been set up at Rajpora security force camp on main Tral- Awantipora road. The road has been closed with barbed wire and security forces were directing people, including those in vehicles, to go back, a local resident told UNI over phone from Awantipora. Similarly, other roads connecting Tral with other areas also remained closed, he said.
 
Though restrictions has been imposed in Tral and adjoining areas since Friday evening, repeated announcements were being made this morning again through public address system directing people to remain indoor as curfew has been imposed.
 
Hundreds of security forces and state police personnel could be seen patrolling deserted streets in the town, where people remained indoor in their houses.There was no report of any violation of restrictions from any part of the town so far, official sources said.(UNI)
