Bus crushes seven students to death in UP

Kannauj: Seven students were crushed to death and three others were critically injured after a UP Roadways bus ran over them on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway near Uttar Pradesh, on Monday morning.The students were of Khalilabad in Sant Kabir Nagar district and were going to Haridwar for an educational tour.
      
Police sources here said that the accident occurred near Talgram village when a few students got off the bus to transfer diesel to another bus when the speeding UP roadways bus crushed them. Around 100 students of BTC course in Prabha Devi Degree college, Khalilabad were going to Haridwar on two buses.
 
The roadways bus has been seized but the driver managed to flee. The injured students were rushed to the hospital immediately. The deceased have been identified as  Mahesh Gupta, Vijay, Mithlesh, Vishal Kumar, Abhay Prasad, Satish while one was yet to be identified.
 
Meanwhile, chief minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed his grief over the death of these six BTC students and a teacher in the accident on Lucknow-Agra expressway .The CM announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs two lakh each to the families of the deceased students and the teacher. 
 
Besides, the injured would be given Rs 50,000 each.Mr Adityanath has also asked the Kannauj authorities to register an FIR against the bus driver and provide all medical facilities to the injured students.(UNI)
