Patna: An IAS of 2012 batch and District Magistrate of Buxar Mukesh Pandey committed suicide last night. His body was recovered on Railway track in Ghaziabad. Official sources said here that Mr Pandey, who was made Buxar DM one week back, had proceeded on two days leave for treatment of his ailing uncle.
Mr Pandey had left for New Delhi where he sent message on phones of his friends that he was fed up with his life and going to commit suicide. Soon after the message received, friends informed the police who swung into action immediately. He could not be located in hotel where he was staying.
Later his body was recovered from Railway track near Kotgaon in Ghaziabad last night. Suicide note recovered from the spot blamed none for the incident. He cited frustration from life as reason for taking the extreme step. The young IAS officer had jumped on track before running train to commit suicide, preliminary investigation revealed. "Case is being investigated to ascertain the exact reason behind the suicide," police said.
Mr Pandey was DDC of Katihar and had been shifted to Buxar as DM in a first major administrative reshuffle after formation of the new NDA government. He was the son-in-law of a leading automobile businessman R K Singh, owner of showroom of four wheelers of a reputed company. (UNI)
