Confirmed COVID-19 cases cross 2900-mark in India; 68 deaths, 183 cured

New Delhi: The total number of Novel Coronavirus confirmed cases on Saturday morning shot up to 2902, with casualties touching 68.
Active cases in the country at present stand at 2650, as per the Health Ministry data.The people, so far, cured and discharged amount to 183, the Health Ministry said, while one has migrated.
 
In the past three to four days, there has been a rapid increase  in the number of cases in Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.
 
According to Joint Secretary in the Health Ministry Lav Agarwal, in the last two days, the number of confirmed cases related to Tablighi Jamaat have risen over 647 across 14 states.
 
These include  Delhi, Andaman & Nicobar, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh, said Mr Agarwal addressing the press.
 
The  Home Ministry  has written to the state governments, asking them to take strict action against the attack on healthcare and  essential services providers, keeping in view the safety of medical workers, Joint Secretary in MHA Punya Salila Srivastava had said.
 
State-wise, Maharashtra remains the worst affected with 423 positive cases and 19 deaths, followed by Tamil Nadu with 411 with one casualty.Kerala, which was earlier the second state with maximum number of cases, now houses 295 cases with two deaths.Delhi has  386 cases with 93 new cases in the past 24 hours.(UNI)
