New Delhi: Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday said he humbly accepts the people's verdict following the grand old party's dismal performance in Assembly elections in the five states.
"Humbly accept the people's verdict. Best wishes to those who have won the mandate," the Congress MP from Wayanad said in a tweet.
He expressed his gratitude to the Congress workers and volunteers for their hard work and dedication.
"We will learn from this and keep working for the interests of the people of India," the Congress leader said.
Humbly accept the people’s verdict. Best wishes to those who have won the mandate.
My gratitude to all Congress workers and volunteers for their hard work and dedication.
We will learn from this and keep working for the interests of the people of India.
The Congress party which was hoping to form governments in Goa, Manipur and Uttarakhand, even failed to retain its government in Punjab.
In UP, where the Congress has been out of power for over 30 years and fought the Assembly elections solo, the party's performance declined as compared to last assembly elections. (UNI)
