Congress sees Chitrakoot Assembly as signal of political change

New Delhi: The Congress on Sunday described its victory in the Chitrakoot Assembly bypoll in Madhya Pradesh as a signal of ''change'' in the politics of the country.''The winds of change are in the air. Many thanks to the people of #Chitrakoot for their faith and trust in the Congress party,'' AICC spokesperson Randeep Surjewala tweeted.

The Congress wrested the seat from the ruling BJP in the state. Its candidate Nilanshu Chaturvedi defeated BJP's Shankar Dayal Tripathi by a margin of 1400 votes .The bypoll had been necessitated following the death of sitting Congress MLA Prem Singh.

The Congress is fighting the BJP also in Himachal Pradesh, where polling for Assembly was held on November 9 along with the Chitrakoot poll, and Gujarat, where its trying to come back to power.(UNI)
