CRPF pays rich tribute to 3 jawans martyred in militant attack in Handwara

Srinagar:Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on Tuesday paid floral tribute to three jawans killed in a militant attack at Handwara in frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara on Monday. 
CRPF spokesperson Pankaj Singh told UNI that wreath laying ceremony was held at RTC CRPF Humhama in Srinagar on Tuesday to honour the valour of three jawans, who were martyred in a militant attack on a naka party at Wanigam in Handwara.
 
"Advisor to J&K Lt Governor, Rajiv Rai Bhatnagar, Inspector General (IG) of CRPF, Kashmir (Operations) Rajesh Yadav and all ranks paid homage to the soldiers on behalf of a proud nation," he said.
 
He said that the mortal remains of the martyrs would be flown for last rites to their native places, where they would be laid to rest with full honours.
 
Official sources said that militants fired at a security force naka party at Wanigam in Handwara on Monday evening, resulting in injuries to five CRPF jawans. "The injured were immediately taken to a hospital, where three of them were declared brought dead," they said, adding death body of a youth was also recovered from the attack site.
 
They said the militants managed to escape from the spot, adding the deceased jawans have been identified as Constable Santosh Mishra, Constable Chandra Shekhar and Constable Ashwani Kumar Yadav. (UNI)
