New Delhi:Delhiites continued to breathe in toxic air on Saturday with the city's average air quality falling under the 'very poor' category, according to the Central Pollution Control Board.As per the CPCB data, the Air Quality Index (AQI) at around 1200 hrs was measured at 367, which falls under the 'very poor' category.
There were some areas where the condition was even worse. The AQI in Jasola, Anand Vihar area was under "severe" category as the reading was above 400. A blanket of haze was also witnessed at most of the places, prominently near Ghazipur landfill, Anand Vihar, Jasola, Sarai Kale Khan and others.
As per the India Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature recorded in Delhi was 13 degree celsius, three notch below normal. Due to drop in temperature, the density of air increased resulting in less movement of particulate matter and more toxicity.(UNI)
