New Delhi: Ahead of the Delhi assembly elections, the Congress on Monday announced its ‘guarantee’ ‘Pyari Didi’ scheme, under which the party promises to give Rs 2,500 per month to every woman of the National Capital.

Addressing a press conference after launching the scheme, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said, “After the successful launch of the guarantee programme in Karnataka, we are launching the Pyari Didi scheme in Delhi.”

“I am confident that the Congress government will be elected in Delhi, and we will implement the scheme of Rs 2,500 to every woman on the first day. As per the Karnataka model, the guarantee will also be implemented in Delhi,” he said.

Shivakumar said that after forming the government in Delhi, the first cabinet decision will be to implement the Pyari Didi scheme.

Stating that Congress' strength is the country's strength, and Congress' history is the country's history, Shivakumar said, “This new year should bring change to Delhi. I hope you all will help us to bring the Congress government to Delhi.”

“With your help, whatever we promised, we have delivered in Karnataka. We have implemented all five guarantees in just three months after taking the oath. With our guarantees, the status of youth, families, and the economic conditions of Karnataka has changed, and people are enjoying the benefits,” the Karnataka Deputy CM said.

Delhi Congress chief Devender Yadav attacked the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal as an “impersonator” and said, “In the last 11 years, Kejriwal has failed on all aspects that were talked about—education model, free electricity and water, and eradication of corruption.”

Yadav said that the “Pyari Didi” scheme was just one and promised that the party will bring more welfare schemes for Delhi.

He said that the Congress has a “history and tradition that has credibility among the people.”

He said that public welfare schemes were not only running successfully in Karnataka but such schemes were also benefiting people in Telangana and Himachal Pradesh.

Moreover, Mahila Congress chief Alka Lamba thanked DPCC for the Pyari Didi scheme, saying that it will empower the women of Delhi.
