Delhi police registers 22 FIRs over R-Day violence

New Delhi: The Delhi Police has registered a total of 22 FIRs in various police stations in connection with the violence that erupted during the tractor rally on Republic day.
Over 100 people have been detained under various sections, including rioting, attacking policemen, obstructing government work and damaging government property.
A police official said that over 300 policemen were injured in the violence carried out by agitating farmers in various areas of Delhi.
On Tuesday, hundreds of protestors managed to enter the Red Fort in the national capital, breaching police security and planted a religious and farm union flag on the pole where Tri-Colour is hoisted on Independence Day. The flag was later removed and the area cleared by the police.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has also reviewed the situation at a high-level meeting on Tuesday and ordered the deployment of additional paramilitary forces in the capital. (UNI)
