The state government's anti-corruption drive gains strong support on social media. Over the past week, the Uttarakhand Vigilance Department has arrested five individuals on bribery charges, including officials ranging from the Chief Treasury Officer to a Nazir in the Revenue Department. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s ongoing campaign against corruption is being widely appreciated across the country. In this context, the hashtag #DhamiCleanUpCorruption was seen trending on the social media platform X on Thursday.
On Thursday, the #DhamiCleanUpCorruption hashtag trended on X, with thousands of users raising their voices in support of the campaign. In their comments, users stated that “the state is now heading toward the change that people have long dreamed of, and this will help establish transparency in governance.”
Users also noted that under Chief Minister Dhami’s leadership, the state government has effectively implemented a policy of zero tolerance against corruption. In the past three years, over 150 individuals involved in corruption—whether officials or influential persons—have been sent to jail. Prior to this, the Dhami government also brought in a strict anti-cheating law to curb malpractices in recruitment processes. This is now visibly impacting governance.
According to the latest ranking by the prestigious business news website Financial Express, Uttarakhand has secured the second position among small states in terms of financial health, following Goa. This achievement is the result of the state's strong fiscal discipline, transparent administration, and development-oriented policies. Earlier, Uttarakhand had also secured the first position in the 2023-24 Sustainable Development Ranking released by NITI Aayog.
